I grew up spending a lot of time outside but also had lots of symptoms of asthma (that no one recognized). I had a good childhood. I was fairly healthy with some chest infections here and there. When I was 25 my brother was diagnosed with Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency and I got tested. I got the same result. Though I never smoked, I have signs of COPD over 10 years later, and I am receiving infusion therapy. I am a writer and I share my experiences with others to spread awareness. I also have a full time job taking phone calls.
