"Katie McDonough serves as the Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Southeastern Virginia Chapter, an organization committed to ending Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. Prior to this role, Katie served as the Director of Programs & Services for the Southeastern Chapter for over six years.

Katie has worked in several settings in the field of aging and geriatrics, including the Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and the aging-in-place senior village model. She has served on the Alzheimer’s Association’s national strategic plan work group, the Virginia Dementia Services work group, the M.E. Cox Adult Day Center Board of Directors, and the Alzheimer’s Association’s Volunteer Advisory Council. Katie is published in the Journal of Gerontological Social Work and Social Work Today.

Katie has extensive experience in strategy development and implementation to grow: the reach of nonprofit programs and services, the impact of both state and federal public policy, engagement of health and long-term care systems, and a diverse portfolio of revenue targets. She is committed to reducing inequities across social sectors and is focused on growing her allyship with BIPOC, LGBTQ, and other underserved communities.

Katie is a licensed clinical social worker, having spent her early career as a geriatric care coordinator. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice and her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from James Madison University."
